Huron Sussex Planning Study – Final Report

University of Toronto Huron-Sussex Neighbourhood Planning Study has recently been released. Here is the link to the final report.

Thanks to all of you who attended planning sessions, gave direction, commented on drafts and worked over the last year to develop the long-term plan for our neighbourhood.  This document is the result of the planning process and the work that both we and the university put into it.

We are now starting the implementation phase of the plan, which, for the short term, consists of:

  • research to  identify policies and legislation that need to be changed to enable the plan to become real.  This is in process;
  • a joint public announcement from HSRO and the University of Toronto – also in process; an implementation work group consisting of HS residents and the university to guide implementation.  The group will meet before all University of Toronto Area Liaison Committee meetings  and report to the committee.  Ron Kentner and Julie Mathien are the HSRO reps on the Liaison Committee.
  • a presentation (University of Toronto Vice-President of University Operations, and an HSRO representative) to the Business Board of the University’s Governing Council;
  • a process to develop residency policies which will support neighbourhood stabilization in the short and medium term;
  • Save the Date – September 10: Huron-Sussex community meeting to discuss the final plan and meet the university staff who will be working with us in future.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact the Huron-Sussex members of the Work Group:
