Citizen politics, unlike party politics, does not seek to change government, but to improve it by watchfulness, oversight and advice

Laneway Mural Installation Begins

The work for the first stage of the Huron-Sussex Living Lane Pilot Project, a laneway mural, is now underway as of May 28. It will be installed on the laneway south of Glen Morris St next to the Huron-Sussex Community Garden.

The artist, Karen Roberts, and her team will prepare the site and paint the artwork portrayed above. The design reflects the “abundant life” inhabiting our neighbourhood. Visitors to the mural site are welcome. Come and meet the artist and watch as the mural emerges from the pavement.

The next stage in the laneway pilot will be the installation of furniture. We’re planning tables and seating for the lane, if the City of Toronto approves the necessary permit, and a picnic table for the community garden. Future additions could include planters, and biodiversity supports such as birdhouses and insect and bee hotels.

The Huron-Sussex Residents’ Organization is working with the University of Toronto on this laneway animation pilot.

See you at the laneway!
