Housing Strategies in Huron Sussex

Dear H-S Resident,
You have received a letter from University of Toronto staff requesting participation in a focus group about housing strategies in Huron-Sussex. The focus group will provide input on the following questions:

  • To whom should the University provide housing, and why?
  • What role does a campus housing community (run by the institution or its students, faculty, staff or other stakeholders) play in supporting the academic mission of the institution?
  • What kind of family/individual needs should be accommodated?
  • How changes in family dynamics influence housing choice; and
  • How housing needs are balanced with affordability?

The focus group is part of the housing strategy project that supports the implementation of the Huron-Sussex Neighbourhood Plan. Brook McIlroy and N. Barry Lyon Consultants, the consultants who developed the plan, are also leading the housing strategy project. HSRO is a member of the project steering committee and helped select the consultants.

Resident voices are critical to the success of the housing strategy project. We encourage you to participate in the focus group. If you wish to do so, please contact Gloria Zangari Cuneo at gloria.cuneo@utoronto.ca or 416-978-0630, preferably by August 16.

The focus group is scheduled for August 24 at 3:00 at 229 College St., 2nd Floor, Room 220.

Sincerely,
Zoƫ Newman and Julie Mathien,
Co-Presidents, HSRO Board of Directors.
