TTC Construction Notice
Partial Intersection Closure
Spadina/Sussex Intersection Track Reconstruction

Start Date: October 18, 2012
End Date: November 17, 2012 Timeline subject to change due to unforeseen events

A partial road closure and lane restrictions will be required at the Spadina/Sussex intersection for the City of
Toronto and the TTC to carry out major reconstruction work.
From Monday, October 22 to Saturday, November 10, 2012;
No east-west through traffic or left-turns will be permitted at this intersection.
North-south through traffic and right-turns will be maintained.
North-south traffic lane restrictions through the intersection will continue until November 17. A minimum of
one lane will be maintained.

Construction Details
The work will involve the reconstruction of TTC streetcar tracks, road resurfacing and some curb/sidewalk
repairs. Rails and other related equipment and material will be brought on-site and temporarily stored until
rail installation begins.

Pedestrian Access
Safety barricade fence will be placed around the intersection to provide a safe barrier between the work and
pedestrians. Pedestrian access to businesses and walkways will be maintained on both sides of all roads during
construction.

Work Hours
Work will generally run from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends.
However, the TTC track reconstruction phase of this project will involve periods of overnight work and
extended weekend hours. The overnight rail work by TTC may consist of moving rail into position, rail
installation and rail welding/grinding. After-hours work by TTC is required to support the daytime
construction and complete the project as quickly as possible.

TTC Service Changes and Routings
510 Spadina Streetcars: Streetcars replaced with curb-side bus operation between Spadina Station and the
Spadina/Queens Quay loop. Some buses will operate to the Charlotte loop at King Street. Streetcar service is
scheduled to resume between the Spadina Station at Bloor Street and Charlotte loop at King Street on
November 18, 2012.Streetcar service to the Queens Quay/Spadina loop is scheduled to resume in December
2012.
